Recruitment Process for Helpers/AAYAs

Srinagar, August 8, 2023 – The Office of the Headmaster at Government Boys High School, Chandihar Iddgah Srinagar, has issued a call for applications for the recruitment of Helpers/AAYAs for the Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) program for the academic year 2023-24. The initiative is aimed at enhancing the educational experience for young learners and ensuring a nurturing environment.

The recruitment process is in line with the directives from the Directorate of Samagra Shiksha, Jammu & Kashmir, and has been endorsed by Chief Education Officer Srinagar. Aspiring candidates are required to submit applications on plain paper along with relevant documents.

These documents include proof of gender, domicile within the school’s locality, a certificate of belonging to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category, a fitness certificate, qualification certificates, and other specified certificates. All applications must reach the office of the Headmaster by August 20, 2023, no later than 2:30 PM.

Nature of Deployment:
Successful candidates selected as Helpers/AAYAs will have a temporary engagement that aligns with the academic session’s duration. The extension of this engagement is contingent upon performance and the availability of funds from the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Candidates are required to submit an affidavit, certified by a First Class Magistrate, confirming their understanding that they won’t claim permanent absorption at any stage.

Decisions regarding funding and implementation will be overseen by the funding agency, Samagra Shiksha, Jammu & Kashmir, under the jurisdiction of the School Education Department.

Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the role, applicants must fulfill certain criteria:

  • Only female candidates are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must be residents of the area where the school is situated.
  • Applicants should belong to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.
  • Physical and mental fitness is a prerequisite for the position.

Qualification and Preference:
A minimum qualification of passing the 8th class is required for the Helper/AAYA position. In cases where eligible candidates from the same area are not available, candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered.

Preference in selection will be given to candidates from the BPL category, following this order of priority:

  1. Widows
  2. Divorced individuals
  3. Orphans
  4. Candidates among the poorest of the poor within the ward.

Age Requirement:
Candidates must be aged between 18 and 45 years as of January 1 of the deployment year.

Honorarium:
Selected candidates will receive a monthly honorarium of Rs. 5,000/- (Five thousand rupees only). This amount is subject to change based on approval from the Planning and Budgeting (PAB) committee of Samagra Shiksha in subsequent years.

Selection Process and Appeals:
In the event of a tie in the selection of candidates, priority will be given to the elder candidate. The names of the selected Helpers/AAYAs will be displayed on the school’s notice board, as well as at the Municipal Ward and the CEO Office.

Candidates who feel aggrieved by the selection can submit an appeal within 15 days of the selection to the Chief Education Officer, Srinagar. A second appeal can be filed with the Director of School Education, Kashmir.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Helpers/AAYAs engaged for pre-primary sections will be responsible for tasks including escorting children during arrival, departure, and activities, maintaining children’s hygiene, assisting teachers in classroom preparations, aiding children during meals, and undertaking other duties assigned by the Head of Institution.

Premature Termination:
In cases of misconduct, misbehavior, or poor performance, the Head of Institution reserves the right to terminate the services of a Helper/AAYA. Replacement for such positions will be made within 7 days, following proper procedures.

This initiative aims to provide a nurturing and enriching environment for young learners, ensuring their holistic growth and development. Candidates meeting the criteria are encouraged to apply and contribute to the betterment of early childhood education.
